Ethical Oversight and Community Participant Protection

Bali Health Published Journal (BHPJ) recognizes that community health programmes may involve people, health records, vulnerable groups or identifiable images. Authors must respect local regulations, institutional requirements and internationally recognized principles of participant dignity, voluntary participation, privacy and prevention of harm.

Approvals and Permissions

Authors should identify permission obtained from relevant health facilities, schools, village authorities or community partners as applicable. Formal ethics committee approval is required where the activity or accompanying research meets the criteria under applicable law and institutional review policies. If an activity is exempt, authors should explain the basis for exemption rather than imply that community service never requires review.

Consent and Confidentiality

Obtain appropriate informed consent for activities, data collection and publication when required. Separate publication consent may be needed for recognizable photographs, identifiable quotations, patient case descriptions and sensitive health records. Consent to participate in a programme does not automatically constitute consent to publication. Take particular care with children and other vulnerable groups.

Responsible Reporting

Authors should describe foreseeable risks, mitigation measures and safeguarding procedures where relevant. Participant-identifying information must not be disclosed unnecessarily. Editors may request approval letters or de-identified evidence before publication.
